It’s basically Montana Mob War with massive intermittent doses of testosterone (cowboys with guns on horses while fishing)!

John Dutton (Kevin Costner) often seems to have “forgotten”; his mountain accent and drifts back into the SoCal speaking voice he normally uses. (Review is for the first two seasons only) I went into this show not expecting to like it, but the story, acting and cinematography are superb.

Costner is a master actor in the title role of The Duttons

The show is at its best when it shows the Duttons moving the chessboard and their enemies engaging. Kelsey Asbille is the weakest link as Monica and plays a weak hand badly, the story drags along awkwardly and the acting only misses the scenes where Rip was in.

Thomas Rainwater is also great

Just like Cormac McCarthy’s All the Pretty Horses; was a bit more raw and brutal than the title suggests, this show strikes in a similar vein. Highly recommend and wish I didn’t wait so long to watch it.
