Many episodes feature 3M Command(TM) tape displayed in the kitchen of Jeffrey Dahmer’s apartment, and this occurs no later than 1991. 3M debuted its first wave of Command(TM) products in 1996. There are two monsters in this heartbreaking and gripping story, but they’re not Eric (Cooper Koch) and Lyle (Nicolas Alexander Chavez), they’re Jose (Javier Bardem) and Kitty (Chloe Savini). I don’t want to go too much into the legal aspects of this case because this is not a documentary but a drama series.
He was, in a way, pure Truman Capote
However, let me start by saying that if Eric and Lyle were Erica and Lyle – two daughters – they would never spend a day in jail. This is not to say that Eric and Lyle were blameless, but the mitigating circumstances were so overwhelming and compelling that they should have been convicted of manslaughter with a 10-year sentence. There’s also Dominic Dunne (Nathan Lane), a despicable man who spreads celebrity gossip and cocktails. I want to highlight episode 5 of 'The Hurt Man.' There are only two characters in the entire scene: Leslie Abramson (Ari Gainer) and Eric.
Cooper Koch does a great job all the time, but especially in this episode
Director Michael Uppendahl places the camera about 12 feet from the table where the two are sitting. Abramson has her back to the camera (we never see her face) and Lyle’s face. Slowly, imperceptibly, the camera pushes Eric until it passes Abramson and ends with a close-up of Eric explaining the title of the episode. amazing!
Nicholas Chavez is also great as Lyle
Javier Bardem and Chloe Savini are outstanding as Jose and Kitty.
