A modern day story about making a fortune in the world of West Texas oil rigs

A landman, at least one who works in the oil industry, will act as an intermediary between exploration companies and landowners. Typically, a landman’s job is to negotiate and finalize contracts with landowners with mineral rights to lease those rights to the company they represent. Like a foreman on a construction site, they build roads, workers’ housing (camp people), oversee the assembly of excavation machinery, and the drilling of the site itself, especially in remote locations.
Oil industry accuracy issues?
They are also part Fixer, Problem Solver, and Facilitator, too. It’s the TV formula, but by a writer who will be remembered in a few decades, as Norman Lear is now. The difference here seems to be geography. It’s another niche western show, and it’s a genius marketing move, along with some great performances from top-notch actors.
Inadequacy of the mother-daughter-father-family dynamic?
Apparently. Yes. Does that mean nothing plays out the same way in real life? No matter, it’s a dynamic production and a fun one to watch.
Larter is at his peak and looks phenomenal
Thornton is destined for the role, although I read that it was written just for him to begin with. Lots of interesting stuff, except that the only oddity is Demi Moore being listed in all 10 episodes. I’ve seen all 5 that have aired so far, and unless it’s just me, I remember seeing and hearing her only once, in her swimming pool, for a brief moment. Hamm’s character isn’t seen as much either, but he’s played well and nails his character, but Moore just isn’t allowed to add anything so far.
If not, then I’ll wonder what the deal is there
Maybe it’s written that way and she’ll play a role in later episodes.
