Scenario
Following the events of Batman (2022), Oz Cobb, aka the Penguin, makes a play to seize the reins of Gotham’s crime world. From melting makeup to frozen sets, Colin Farrell and Cristin Milioti talk about how they shaped their characters during the making of ‘The Penguin.’ Colin Farrell fought hard to make The Penguin smoke in Batman (2022), but to no avail. However, in his own series, the character is depicted as an occasional smoker, preferring to smoke cigars. An umbrella falls and the emblem changes to the Warner Bros logo.
It fit the tone and mood perfectly
Starring Graham Norton i gosti: Lady Gaga/Demi Moore/Colin Farrell/Richard Ayoade/Jack Savoretti (2024). It’s gritty, dirty and dark, but Farrell manages to capture the sparkle of Gandolfini’s Tony Soprano charm. There is a similarity with sopranos especially in tone. A lot of dark stuff goes down in this opening episode, but there are still comedic moments that fit the tone and don’t undermine it.
Amazing is the right word
Where do I begin with Farrell. I love seeing talented star actors step into roles like this, and the make-up/cgi or whatever exactly they did when they turned him into a penguin not only passes the eye test, but also looks incredibly realistic. There’s always the risk that if the makeup job isn’t good enough, or if it’s just a little off, it’ll be completely distracting. In penguin, it adds to its performance and the overall quality of the show, because it’s a damn good job.
It did not disappoint, in fact it impressed me
And Farrell as an actor completely immersed himself in this role. Maybe I’m a little biased because he was one of my favorite actors before the show, but I think he’ll get some well-deserved accolades with this one. I never tune in to new series right away because I love watching them. episodes at a time, but I wanted to see how it actually came out.
