This is the second time that Paul Schrader has adapted one of Banks’ novels for the screen, following the adaptation of Sorrow (1997). I watched it in Cannes, during the premiere of the film.

It has excellent cinematography and excellent design

“Oh, CANADA” is a very original film by one of the masters of cinematography, a real work of art. The film is beautifully made, has a strong visual component.

The acting is good, especially Richard Gere, who plays the main character

He demonstrates an amazing and memorable performance in the spirit of Jack Nicholson from “FIVE EASY PARTS” – a complex character, not always likable, but convincing. Maybe not everyone will like it, but I think it’s one of Paul Schroeder’s greatest achievements and a gift for movie lovers.
